The little boy's commute

Commuting back in time

That is a seriously old commuter... not unlike a very dignified mammoth.

Which got me thinking what if the dinosaurs still walked amongst us?
Man would still live in caves. No scientific discoveries would have been made.
It would go like this:
"- have you heard about little Isaac newton?
- I hear he was taken away by a pterodactyl
- yeah... But he struggled and freed himself. Didn't do him any good though: he fell to the ground and crashed.
- I wonder why things are attracted to the ground and can't just float in the ether...
- yeah... I guess we'll never know. It's one of those things."

What is more odd...

A man, dressed in all falconry paraphernalia, bird of prey resting on his wrist, standing waiting at the back of Basingstoke train station, on a mild spring afternoon or a man in his underwear chasing a dog in a public park on a freezing winter morning?

You never know what joyful happening will reward your daily commute...

I like liquorice...

... so it was a huge disappointment when it turned out that the liquorice brought back from Copenhagen by a colleague turned out to be salty.
Not good!
So bad in fact that it reminded another colleague of a Icelandic delicacy: Hákarl ("Those new to it will usually gag involuntarily on the first attempt to eat it"... Right...)

The Freedom granted by a motor car

It's the week end: free time to go and explore where the train does not venture - in the car!
Where shall it be today? Let's get behind the wheel and...

Ah... Minor set back: it should only take between 24 and 36 hours to resolve. There's always Sunday... or next week end.

Amazingstoke

Inspired by a cousin's wonderful tribulations I have decided that I also shall tell of my rail travels. Let the eye of the beholder decide how the daily commute to Basingstoke compares with the more legendary trains of the far east...
Early in the morning my train arrives on time to take me to work.

Standing room only I'm afraid... The view inside the carriage is not the best.

And in the evening it's back to the station

Where I wait eagerly for the train back

The view is a huge improvement over the morning one: I get to stand by the window!

And as if the day could be even more exciting I see two peacocks on a roof on the way home
